USS Elrod Deployment
{Norfolk VA Photography}
I got photograph a deployment day, which included my fiancée {Rob} and other awesome men/women of the USS Elrod. That day, all of the families were allowed to come aboard the ship in the morning to say their final goodbyes. This moment was special to me since the last time Rob deployed with the USS Elrod in May 2010; I was unable to attend because of my college graduation. The day started off very early {4:50am early} with cold weather and rain, however the only thing that seemed to really matter was spending those final moments with the one you love.
Most of the guys were dressed to impress in their dress blues and boy did they look handsome! As early as it was, some guys were ready to model for the camera. Jose even busted out sunglasses, which Rob joined in. Lets just say, I turned the wardroom into a big photo session, which lightened the moment with laughter and jokes. For anyone who is wondering about the hat with the orange hair, Wednesday is the ships “hat day” but I guess only a few people got the memo. You probably recognize the lovely couple {Brittany & Neil} from their engagement photos that I took October. And just in case you’re wondering who is in the “Officer & a Gentleman inspired photo”, yes that is {me} with my man! At 9:00am the bells rang and it was time to give those final kisses and go stand on the pier. By this time the rain magically stopped and for the next hour we watched as the tugboats came in and the ship then anchored. It was very bitter sweet watching them leave but I’m excited for them to come home. Hope you guys have an awesome deployment!

Awesome pictures as usual, Christy. What variety! I’m sure you will miss Rob but you captured these moments beautifully. xo
