Mismatched China Plates

I got this idea originally from a wedding that was featured on the blog “Green Wedding Shoes” awhile back and I was soon hooked on this idea of having mismatched vintage plates for my wedding. When I searched online for mismatched china plates for weddings, I was shocked to see how many brides were doing this very same thing for their own weddings. I thought it would be beautiful and unique to collect vintage floral china plates for my cocktail and reception since my theme is vintage shabby chic.

So I started collecting plates from flea markets, thrift stores and rummage sales and the next thing I knew, I had a big collection of appetizer plates, salad plates, dinner plates and also dessert plates. I even started collecting plate’s way before I was even engaged, because I wasn’t sure how long it was going to take or how many I would end up needing. Believe it or not I’m very close to being finished and my wedding is still over a year away. I was lucky enough that I had a few friends of the family involved with the collecting process and I’m very anxious to see how the plates will look on my wedding.

Wow! I am so impressed with your collection! Has your wedding date passed? I am interested in doing the same thing for my wedding with probably just salad plates or dessert plates. Would you be willing to consider renting part of your collection? thank you!

Thank you so much! I loved collecting them too! The photos you see are only half of my collection believe it or not lol. That’s awesome, when is your wedding date? My wedding date is June 2013 but I haven’t decided if I will be selling them or renting them out after my wedding. I think it also depends on the location since these plates are way too heavy to ship out.
